'Winter' - Handmade leather, feather, and Labradorite gemstone earrings.
 
The white, gold, and grey tones of these earrings remind me of walking along the banks of the Red River in mid-winter. Dried golden grasses stick-up out of the snow swaying gently in the wind. Their warm colour stands in stark contrast to the white blanket of glistening snow that covers the landscape. Ancient elm trees, which have long shed their vibrant summer canopy, stand as large grey sentinels in silent observation.
 
Winter on the Canadian Prairies is harsh and not for the faint of heart. But over the years I have learned to appreciate it. The colours, textures, and movements of nature in the winter months almost have to be observed to be believed. Glistening ice crystals on dried out vegetation, swirling snow columns dancing down the frozen river, and the animals that thrive in the frozen solitude.
 
These handcrafted earrings, with their soft tones and gentle movements, are an embodiment of Canadian winters.
