‘Where the Wild Things Roam’ – Winter on the Canadian prairies is harsh and unforgiving, but that does not deter me from venturing outdoors. Bundled in layers of wool and fur, I head for the snowy banks of the Red River. One may think that there is not much to see this time of year, but the monochromatic landscape is alive with muted colours, textures, and movements… if one has the eyes to see. Swirling snow blows down the river channel, while the mice, rabbits, deer, fox, and coyote roam freely.
Copper, charcoal deer hide, rose gold lambskin, feathers, crystals, hematite and Sterling Silver
The process:
- These earrings begin with handcrafted Copper hoops that are cut, filed, and hammered into shape. The Copper is then polished to a high shine.
- Charcoal deer hide laces are hung from the large Copper hoops and secured into place with Copper wire. The laces are then meticulously cut into fine fringes.
- Metallic rose gold Italian lambskin is cut from the hide and finely fringed. Rooster tail feathers are then carefully chosen and secured to the lambskin using Copper tubes.
- Vintage Crystals + Hematite beads are placed on Copper headpins and attached to Copper chain... which dangle from the large Copper hoops.
- Smaller handcrafted Copper hoops are used to attach the lambskin + feathers to the large Copper hoops.
- Finished with hand-made Sterling Silver Sheppard hooks... perfect for those with sensitive ears.
These earrings are made to order.
Each pair is custom crafted and will be uniquely one of a kind.
