'Solid Gold' - Handmade Brass + Metallic Leather Fringe Necklace
 
I am a product of the 1970s and was raised on Solid Gold, Soul Train, and Motown.
On Saturday mornings, decked out in my mom's spandex and costume jewelry, you'd find me in the basement, the sound on the television cranked right up, taking-in the wild fashion, glittering jewelry, and trying out all the latest dance moves.
I dreamed of becoming a Solid Gold dancer. I wanted nothing more than to get dressed up, adorn myself in gold jewelry, and dance my heart out.
 
Although my Solid Gold dreams never manifested, I got the next best thing...
 
Creating jewelry inspired from those childhood memories.
Brass, metallic leather fringe, and sparkles, and....oh, my! 
 
The process:
This piece begins with a sheet of brass which is hand-cut into two crescent shapes. 
The brass is then filed, hammered, polished and pierced.
Metallic leather is cut from three different lambskin hides (gold, rose gold, silver), and meticulously cut into fine fringes.
The leather pieces are then pierced and hand-stitched together.
The brass and leather are attached with brass eyelets, where the brass chains (adorned with hematite gemstones + crystals), hang from.
A handcrafted brass 'S' hook is created... and can be attached anywhere along the chain, making this piece adjustable in length.

Leather: Lamb Skin (Gold, Rose Gold, Silver metallic)
Metal: Brass
Length: The front leather fringe is 17.15cm/ 6.75 inches in length
