Not long ago, I came across a quote on a park bench that read: "Softly Fearless". This made me stop and ponder. In the modern world, can a woman be both soft and fearless?  
 
My experience has revealed that women are often the glue of the family unit. We play many roles: daughter, wife, mother, housekeeper, cook, teacher, and peacemaker. But as modern women, we are also asked to take on many roles outside of the home. This pressure can test our resolve, resilience and tenderhearted nature.
 
When I created these earrings: cutting, filing, and hammering the metal into shape; I found myself contemplating what it means to be softly fearless. The answer was gleaned in the metals that I was working with. Copper is soft and malleable, while Brass is hard and strong. 
 
When I attached the domed Brass plates to the Copper arches using handmade Copper rivets, I realized that these earrings are a reflection of the life of a modern woman and the embodiment of what it means to be "softly fearless".
