'Raqa' - Handmade Copper + Fire Opal Earrings
 
‘Raqa’ is a Hebrew term from Genesis (the biblical creation story) referring to the firmament, the solid expanse of the heavens which separates the waters above, from the waters below. The dome of the firmament was hammered out (raqa) by God.
 
These were the first style of hammered metal earrings that I made and when I was working the metal, I imagined God hammering out the firmament. It takes effort and skill to pound metal in order to give it its shape.
 
It is my hope that these earrings help to remind you that God created you as well. You are not a fluke of evolution but a purposeful creation by The Creator of Heaven and Earth.
