'Firmament' - Handcrafted Brass Earrings
 
There is something so satisfying about cutting, filing, hammering, and polishing metal.
Creating something beautiful from raw materials.
 
Hammering and shaping these earrings sparked my imagination, making me think of how God hammered out the firmament. The Master Craftsman at work; work-hardening earth's dome and stretching out the vault of the sky.
 
The firmament (vault of the sky) is the solid celestial barrier that separates the waters above from the waters below and sits upon the firm foundations of the Earth. It is solid and was formed like metal, having been hammered out (raqa), and spread over the Earth like a tent or dome.
 
Inspired by Biblical Cosmology and the creation story.
