‘Firmament’ – Handcrafted Copper Earrings
 
The firmament (vault of the sky) is the solid celestial barrier that separates the waters above from the waters below and sits upon the firm foundations of the Earth. It is solid and was formed like metal, having been hammered out (raqa), and spread over the Earth like a tent or dome.
 
Inspired by Biblical Cosmology and the creation story.
 
‘And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.’
